Southbank guide

A new design template for the BFI listings guide to tie in with the launch of BFI Southbank.

With the launch of BFI Southbank in March 2007, a whole new wave of film experiences were opened up to film lovers. New attractions at the revamped centre included a gallery, access to the national archive through the Mediatheque, a new filmstore plus a cafe and restaurant. The unparalleled programme of film and TV were to play out on the centre’s cinemas, including the BFI IMAX.

Myriad choices

The increase in choice was both inspiring and slightly daunting. The BFI needed to help customers navigate their way through the expansive new offer and make their picks. That applied as much to long-standing BFI members as first-time visitors.

What’s on and when

We were asked to help achieve this by rethinking and restructuring the Southbank monthly listings guide. We worked with writer/producer/designer Elise Valmorbida to create a new format that presented what’s on at the BFI in an engaging, accessible and inspiring way.

Guided by audiences

We handed the template back to the BFI’s in-house design team before they handed it over to BFI Southbank’s new audience.
