Georg Baselitz at the RA Poster Design

Perhaps best known for his upside down paintings, Baselitz work explores what it is to be human.

Georg Baselitz is one of Germany’s most prolific and well-known living artists.

We were commissioned by the RA to design posters to promote the first major UK retrospective of Baselitz’s work, which opened at the Royal Academy of Arts in September 2007. This is the fourth time we have worked with the RA to promote their ambitious and diverse exhibition programme.

Artist’s approval

The initial creative work was taken out to Germany to be viewed and approved by the great man himself. This stage in the process safely negotiated, our work helped draw in the crowds at this exciting show that featured over 60 paintings, together with a significant number of sculptures, prints and drawings spanning five decades.
