Morey Smith Website Development

Content management and accessibility development improve usability for architects

Architecture for architects

Our development work for architect Morey Smith involved redeployment without a complete redesign.

Delivery improvement

The company required their site to retain the feel of the original visual design but needed several crucial technical problems solving - page weight, printability, SEO, accessibility, W3 compliance and, above all, the ability to manage the content themselves, without the need for understanding a single line of HTML code.

Content ready

We created a simple content management system (CMS) allowing them to add and manage images, news items, press releases and portfolio samples. Reducing over 200 pages of website to less than ten, with the majority being fed by a database of up-to-the-minute content.

Work flows better

Now the publication of press releases and portfolio examples are performed in-house, in minutes rather than hours.

Accessible standard

Using new XHTML-compliant web page templates, we recoded the site so that it is compliant with both WAI and WC3 standards, ensuring access for all site visitors.

Coffee google

Little of the site depends on JavaScript (considered a security risk by some) and the site now responds well to requests for "morey smith" on Google. Each page has a dynamic set of meta tags and unique title, and since it is modular and has fewer images, the page loads much more quickly.

Ready reader

The layout is also more liquid, accommodating different browsers and windows without effort, and it even works as a text only site usable by website text reading applications.

Mail mail

To top it all we created a mailing list for interested visitors and reduced the clients exposure to SPAM into the bargain.
